Northwestel [http://www.nwtel.ca/in-the-community/directory-cover-art] is holding their annual contest for NWT artists. You could have your artwork on the cover of next year's telephone book.
The winning artist will receive two thousand dollars, and have their work added to the Northwestel art collection. Artists whose work has appeared on a Northwestel directory cover in the last four years are not eligible to enter. Entered pieces don't have to be paintings, they can also be sculptures or carvings.
Three winners are selected, one from Nunavut, one from the NWT and one from the Yukon and Northern BC.
Each winning piece is featured on the cover of the phone book for the year. Last year's NWT winner was Nick Macintosh from Yellowknife.
Directory Cover Art
Northwestel is a long-time supporter of northern arts and culture. Our annual Directory Cover Art Contest enables us to celebrate and reward three northern visual artists by purchasing original works of art for reproduction on the covers of our regional telephone directories. We also maintain and proudly display an extensive collection of northern artwork at our corporate offices in Whitehorse, Yellowknife and Iqaluit.
How to Enter
Entries must be received no later than Friday, September 20, 2013. Late entries cannot be considered, due to the production schedule of the telephone directories. The winning entrants will
be contacted shortly after the close of the selection process in October. Entries must be submitted in the following formats: as a non-returnable photo print or slide or digital print; or e-mailed
as a .jpg or .tif file. Please do not submit the original piece of work.
Entries must be accompanied by an official entry form containing the following information:
• Artist's name, address, telephone number and e-mail address (if available)
• A short artist's biography
• Description of the artwork, including dimensions, medium and title
• Acknowledgment of the conditions of entry
