I have gotten the suggestion for 3:00 PM (the afternoon coffee break), so that is what we will plan for. We also have the generous use of a forklift, so the lifting should not be too heavy!

The musuem has had six forms delivered to shape the snow for the snow sculpting competition we are holding in March during the MAX Winter Chill. The forms weigh over 100 pounds each and we need to position them in the backyard. Is anyone available tomorrow afternoon for a bit of heavy lifting? Hello Art Enthusiasts!

I am working on a project to create an art map for Fort Smith. It will be a full colour 16 x 20 sheet, folded accordion style, like a city map, which will feature a map of the town on one side with numbers to correspond to various artisans. The other side will have the name/corresponding number to the map, contact information and a photo of the artists' work.

Some artists do not work full time with their art and often will put down 'by appointment or come-by-chance'.

If you want to be included and sell through another venue, such as the bookstore or museum, we will include that info. If you need to have a photo of your artwork taken, arrangements will be made.

Please get back to me by January 31 if you are interested in becoming one of the artists featured on the map or if you have any questions.

Winter ART Festival!

Winter greetings!

 

If nothing else all this snow will certainly make a great start to a Winter ART Festival.  We have some great ideas for icy art projects that anyone can make.  We want to transform the backyard of the museum into an outdoor gallery festooned with lights and cold creations!  IF there is enough interest we may bring in an ice or snow carver to put on a workshop prior to the event.

 

We need some help organizing so please join us - this can be a lot of fun and not too much work if we do it right!

Museum has stove for sale

We have raised enough money to purchase a new range with a double oven.  So, the one we have is up for sale - $75 and you have to pick it up this week please.

If you want to view it, stop on over.  It has a glass cook top.

Two more great workshops for January

Good afternoon,

We've coordinated two more fantastic workshops to help keep your hands and minds busy through the cold and dark days of January.   (Though it has been pretty darn nice out so far, hasn't it?)

 

Our thanks to Brenda and Christine for the time and effort they put into preparing and insturcting these courses.  They both do exquiste work and we are very lucky they are so willing to share their talents.

As always, you must be paid to be registered so please stop by the museum and see Kalina in the office with your fee.  There is a 48 hour notice cancellation policy in effect also.

Hot Chocolate and Ice Festival Fun.

Happy New Year to you all!

 

We know that winter can be a bit dark and cold, so we are beginning to plan a fun Winter Art Festival to be held in February. We have some ideas for this outdoor ice art exhibit but we want your input and ideas for this event!

 

Have any outdoor snowy art ideas? Do you know any ice sculptors?  Handy with the snow shovel?
