Exciting guest Presentation at WBNP Theatre about our night skies!

The Thebacha and Wood Buffalo Astronomical Society and Wood Buffalo
National Park Invite you to an exciting tour of the night skies over
Canada's network of Dark Sky Preserve.

Join author, journalist, photographer, adventurer and wilderness astronomer Peter McMahon for an exciting talk about our night skies!

Peter will relate his adventures capturing iconic images at
national parks across the country and his efforts to photograph the amazing
dark skies over WBNP and Fort Smith. There will be an opportunity to chat
with Peter and ask questions after the presentation.

When: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7 p.m.
Where: Wood Buffalo National Park Theatre


This presentation is open to all members of the public free of charge.

Peter McMahon is an award-winning science journalist who has worked for CTV
News, Discovery Channel, written for The Toronto Star, Air Canada's
in-flight magazine enRoute, the kids publication YES Mag, CAA online
magazine, and written science features for such magazines as Canadian
Geographic, Today's Parent, and Sky News: The Canadian Magazine of
Astronomy and Stargazing where he writes the "Wilderness Astronomer" column
in each issue and serves as a contributing editor.


Peter has also written science and space articles for Space Quarterly (the
print companion to SpaceRef.com, an affiliate of Space.com), University
Affairs Magazine, and Let's Talk ScienceIn February of 2010, he covered
health science stories at the Vancouver Winter Games for CTVolympics.ca


Several of the "Life in space" videos filmed in orbit by Chris Hadfield –
which Peter wrote some of the scripts for while working as a writer for the
Canadian Space Agency – have garnered millions of views on YouTube.


He has spoken on science communication and astronomy at countless
universities, science centres, conferences, and national parks, as well as
delivering science communication workshops at Science North/Laurentian
University's Science Communication program and The Banff Centre.
