Sent on Behalf of Sarah Rosolen at Aurora College:
The Aurora College-Parks Canada Speaker Series is proud to present "Inuvialuit at the Smithsonian, Connecting the Present and the Past" on November 7 at the Northern Life Museum. In the mid-1860s, the Smithsonian Institution collected clothing, tools, art and other objects from Inuvialuit who lived near the Anderson River area, in what is now the Northwest Territories. In 2009 a delegation of Inuvialuit elders, youth and educators travelled to Washington, DC to see the collection, and to explore ways for Inuvialuit to share information about the objects that had been inaccessible to them for 150 years.
Join Charles Arnold, past curator of the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife, and Mervin Joe a member of the Inuvialuit delegation and Parks Canada employee, as they share their experiences of this visit and how they are connecting the Inuvialuit community to the collection and to a way of life that was on the threshold of changes brought about by contact with western society.
November 7 at 7pm at the Northern Life Museum in Fort Smith – please post the attached poster in your workplace and circulate to those who might be interested.

Hello,
The Thebacha & Wood Buffalo Astronomical Society (TAWBAS) will be holding its first meeting (organizing meeting) at 7pm on July 21st at the Northern Life Museum. Anyone interested in participating in the society should attend. The society papers have already been submitted and accepted by legal registries and we are now required to complete some basic tasks such as selecting a board along with a few other items.
Being that the society is still best considered an autocratic organization (and before someone feels it necessary to invade to impose a democratically elected board) I will offer to serve as chair of the meeting and will pull together a brief agenda.
Hope to see lots of you at this meeting !!

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.
An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
Good Afternoon! The musuem has had six forms delivered to shape the snow for the snow sculpting competition we are holding in March during the MAX Winter Chill. The forms weigh over 100 pounds each and we need to position them in the backyard. Is anyone available tomorrow afternoon for a bit of heavy lifting? We don't need to move them very far but Laurie and I can't quite manage this on our own! We would really appreciate the helping hand! Thanks,Kalina
