Hay River Moosehide Tanning Workshop

Franziska Ulbricht on behalf of the Hay River Artisans has requested distribution of the following announcement:

Greetings:

Through our society, the Hay River Artisans, we are organizing a hands on workshop on traditional moosehide tanning. It will be on every day for 14 days straight in Paradise Gardens. ITI is funding most of it hoping that this will boost the availability of traditionally made leather in the area as well as encourage people to learn this skill and maybe consider it a viable business idea as demand for leather is high and so are prices.
We're hoping to get together as many as 5 raw moosehides to be working on in groups of 2-3 people. If 1 person cannot commit to working on it every day then a 3rd or even 4th person would fill the gap. Each group pretty much shares one hide as the final product. We also hope to keep some leather to use for future workshops on beading and sewing with leather.
At this point we are looking for participants that are willing to commit to this workshop. We will start later on in the day and work until the evening, appr. 5-7 hours every day. We will also be cooking snacks and supper in an outside cooking area. Washrooms are available and possibly a place to camp.
Please pass this information on to anyone you might know would be interested. This workshop will be serving people in all of the South Slave region.

See attachments for details.
